Food provision update – Monday 11th May 2020

There have been some major changes to the way food is being provided by different schemes in the city.

We Care Leeds / Leeds FAN
From Monday 11th May, We Care Leeds will be significantly scaling back their food box delivery service, so referrals will no longer be made to them via Leeds FAN, in the way they have been for the last few weeks.

As an alternative, please see the different options for food provision below.

If you need support with getting emergency food provision, do continue to contact us at Leeds FAN for advice and signposting, either via our form or by e-mailing mary@leedsfoodaidnetwork.co.uk.

Leeds North and West / South and East Foodbank
From Monday 4th May, all of the foodbank outlets closed to the public and instead, food parcels are being delivered directly to homes by a team of delivery drivers. The foodbank centres will continue to receive referrals and provide food parcels for Leeds residents.
To register as an agency for online referrals, please contact either of the foodbanks directly by email:
• info@leedsnorthandwest.foodbank.org.uk
• info@leedssouthandeast.foodbank.org.uk
The new National Citizens Advice helpline freephone number – 0808 208 2138 (Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm) can also help people with getting a referral.

FareShare
Anyone can apply to be a Community Food Member of FareShare. Membership is free for the time being. More details are here. E-mail Pete Barringer on peterbarringer@fareshareyorkshire.org.

Leeds Welfare Support Scheme
Referrals can be made for those needing food, help with gas and electricity top-ups, white goods and items for babies. Below are their flyers for how to make an agency referral and how people can self-refer to the scheme.

Food provision drop-ins
Please note that several of the drop-ins and cafes are continuing to provide take-away food and/or food parcels.
